I recently spoke with Marie-Lou Bernatchez of Affaires universitaires for a feature interview, published under the title L'accessibilité comme moteur d'innovation — accessibility as a driver of innovation. The article is in French.

We talk about my path to becoming the first blind researcher in Canada to earn a doctorate in vision science, the many other equally talented blind researchers who are breaking down barriers, and about why I believe accessibility belongs in the design stage rather than being handled case by case after the fact. I also return to a theme at the heart of this lab: braille is to a blind person what print is to a sighted person, and through innovation, technologies extend the reach of braille.
