I am pleased to share that I have been appointed Assistant Director of the Vision, Access and Participation axis of the Vision Sciences Research Network (VSRN), working alongside the axis director, Dr. Walter Wittich.

The VSRN builds vision science research capacity in Quebec and supports the exchange of information among scientists, clinicians and trainees working in the field. In particular, this research axis explores the social and contextual dimensions of vision across the full spectrum of visual experience — from typical vision to visual impairment. We bring together clinical and social science researchers, practitioners, and community members to examine how vision across the spectrum (including low vision and blindness) interacts with daily life, social participation, identity, and access to services, with attention to how environmental, cultural, economic, and policy factors shape both opportunities and barriers. Bringing together a diverse range of researchers, practitioners and partners, the axis focuses on applied outcomes that improve inclusion, equity and quality of life, including research that focuses on co-developing tools that reflect lived experience and collaborative, real-world solutions.

I am grateful to the VSRN and look forward to the work ahead with collaborators across the axis!
